Lebanon: Work and stay

Working while studying in Lebanon and staying after graduation.

Work rights and after graduation

No official statement of general work rights for international students was found on the General Security pages read. LAU's incoming-student guide lists a notarised 'commitment not to work in Lebanon' among the documents for the student residence permit, and GS residence files for several dependent categories require a no-work attestation. Some universities run campus work-study schemes (NDU announces a Work-Study Grant application for Spring 2027; Balamand lists 'Student Work' under financial support) but eligibility of non-Lebanese students was not verified. Treat part-time work as not permitted unless the university and General Security confirm otherwise.

After graduation: No official source on a post-study stay or graduate job-search permit was found on the General Security pages; residence types listed there (annual, permanent, courtesy) do not describe one.

What to watch for in Work and stay

  • Work limits depend on the type of student residence permit; verify the official rule.
  • Do not plan for work rights to cover all living costs.
  • Post-study stay options depend on conditions; research them early.
