Language requirement
Each university sets its own proof. English-language institutions accept TOEFL, IELTS, SAT reading/writing or their own exam. AUB (undergraduate): applicants with SAT EBRW below 530 may use the AUB English exam (AUB-EN), TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic; placement into English 102 needs AUB-EN 40 or higher, TOEFL iBT (1-6 scale, from 21 Jan 2026) 4.5 or IELTS 6.5, lower scores place into English 100A/100B; graduate RUSE: TOEFL iBT 97, IELTS 7.0, Duolingo 120, AUB-EN 40, GRE verbal 147. LAU: minimum IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (or 4.5 on the 1-6 scale), Duolingo 115, SAT EBRW 460, ACT Writing 7, LAU EEE 102; lower scores mean Intensive English. USJ English programmes: English Placement Test Level A, or TOEFL iBT 80 (PBT 548) or IELTS 6.5 (Business School: Level C with an upgrade course; Level B for other listed programmes); programmes taught in French need the French aptitude test. NDU: TOEFL, SAT EBRW, IELTS or the NDU English Entrance Test; minimum scores not published on the page read. Balamand: undergraduate TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 6, Duolingo 110, SAT EBRW 520, CES 160, EPT 63 (graduate TOEFL iBT 100, IELTS 8 as printed, Duolingo 140). BAU: TOEFL iBT 68, IELTS 5.5, SAT EBRW 480 or the BAU English exam at 60 percent; Law, Mass Communication and Psychology are taught in Arabic. Intakes and deadlines
Two main intakes, Fall (September/October) and Spring (January/February), with limited summer sessions; most universities decide in several rounds. Current windows (read 26 Oct 2026): AUB regular freshman admission to Spring 2026-27 closes 31 Oct 2026; early merit for Fall 2027-28 closes 31 Oct 2026; regular Fall 2027-28 opens 1 Nov 2026 and closes 20 Dec 2026; transfer for Fall 2027-28 26 Jan to 30 Apr 2027. LAU: spring 2027 admission by 30 Nov 2026; fall 2027 Phase I by 1 Nov 2026 and Phase II by 15 Jan 2027; graduate fall 2027 by 31 Mar 2027. USJ (2027-2028 programmes): early 19 Oct to 17 Dec 2026, regular 1 Feb to 18 Jun 2027, late 19 Jun to 20 Aug 2027. NDU: Spring 2027 application 1 Oct to 2 Dec 2026 (exams 5 Dec 2026, decisions 18 Dec 2026); Fall 2027 early deadline 22 Jan 2027, regular I 16 Mar, II 1 Jun, III 20 Jul 2027; Spring 2028 4 Oct to 30 Nov 2027. BAU: Spring 2026-27 applications from 19 Oct 2026 (exam 27 Jan 2027); Fall 2027-28 first exam round 16 Nov 2026 to 24 Feb 2027 (exam 27 Feb) and second round 4 May to 5 Aug 2027 (exam 10 Aug). Balamand's published 2026-27 dates (early mid-January, regular end of May 2026) have passed and Fall 2027 dates were not found. Lebanese University admits within yearly faculty deadlines, and LIU publishes no dates on the pages read.Source
