For students

Studying abroad from Türkiye

A summary of the university application, visa and scholarship process for students living in Türkiye.

How does the process work for students from Türkiye?

The application process differs by the student's home country in terms of documents, payments, visa appointments and timelines. Below we summarise the most common topics; current rules must be verified against official sources.

Points to watch when applying from Türkiye

  • Start the apostille process for your school or university diploma early.
  • Some countries assess national exam or school results differently or ask for additional entrance exams; check the programme requirement.
  • For visa applications, follow the appointment calendar of the destination country's consulate/visa centre in Türkiye.
  • For nomination routes such as Stipendium Hungaricum, verify the competent authority in your country from the official source.

Documents: apostille, translation and recognition

Depending on the target country and university, your diploma and transcript may need an apostille, a sworn translation or a recognition/equivalence assessment. The apostille applies between countries party to the Hague Convention; verify the issuing body and timing with the official institution in your own country.

  • Apostille of diploma and transcript (where required)
  • Sworn or notarised translation
  • Recognition/evaluation body of the target country (for example uni-assist/anabin in Germany, CIMEA in Italy)
  • Birth or family documents (for family reunification)

Language tests and centres

Test centre locations and appointment availability for IELTS and TOEFL vary by country. Plan early so the result arrives in time for application and visa dates.
