Switzerland: Visa

Student visa and residence permit steps, timing and proof of funds for Switzerland.

Visa and residence permit

Third-country students need a national visa D (studies) and then a cantonal residence permit. The responsible cantonal migration office approves first; the consulate issues the visa only after authorisation. Applicants must be in person at the consulate and tested in the study language per the Istanbul sheet.
