Applicants must meet BAföG sections 8(1)-(3) or 61: generally German citizens, persons with permanent residence/settlement permit, recognised refugees and some others. EU/EU-candidate nationals not meeting these can apply if they study permanently in Germany for a degree (also Ukraine and Moldova since June 2022). Therefore generally not open to newly arriving non-EU students on a student visa. Full-time study only; no age limit.
