Kazakhstan: Work and stay

Working while studying in Kazakhstan and staying after graduation.

Work rights and after graduation

No work right for students was found in the current official texts. Law 'On Migration' Art. 36-1 (read 2026-10-25) sets a foreign-labour quota/permit system and lists exempt groups (autonomous educational organisations' managers/specialists, state bodies, investment projects, SEZ participants, permanent residents, branch heads, Astana Hub, persons on a Government list, intra-corporate transferees); students are not listed in the article text read. The Government list of persons exempt from local-authority permits (Resolution No. 1041, 24 Nov 2023, referenced in a search result) was not opened. Do not publish a part-time work right for international students; show 'Henuz dogrulanmadi'.

What to watch for in Work and stay

  • Work limits depend on the type of student residence permit; verify the official rule.
  • Do not plan for work rights to cover all living costs.
  • Post-study stay options depend on conditions; research them early.
