Comparison criteria
Put countries side by side on these points and verify each one against official sources:
- Tuition: in some countries public universities are low-cost, in others international fees are high.
- Living costs: there can be big differences between cities.
- Visa and residence permit: financial-proof requirement, processing time and insurance rule.
- Work rights: limits while studying and post-study stay options.
- Language and admission system: application channel (uni-assist, Studielink, Universitaly, UCAS, etc.) and language requirement.
- Scholarships: government and university scholarships and their application routes.
How to build a decision matrix
Give each criterion your own importance score from 1–5, score each country 1–5 and multiply. The result will not decide for you, but it shows which country stands out and why.

- Looking only at tuition and forgetting living costs
- Not accounting for visa and residence-permit lead times
- Not verifying that the programme is really taught in English
- Looking only at rankings and ignoring programme quality and the city
