[**Free consultation**](https://armaneducation.com/en/contact) English-taught programmes usually require a result such as IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT; the minimum score varies by country, university and programme. Local-language requirements may also apply, for example DSH or TestDaF for German-taught programmes in Germany. Some universities accept alternatives such as the Duolingo English Test while others accept only specific tests. The right test and timing matter: results are typically valid for two years, and visa applications may have a separate requirement (for example a Secure English Language Test for UK visas). We build the preparation with you: level check, study plan and test date selection. ## Who is it for? - Applicants who do not yet meet the language requirement of their target programme - Students torn between IELTS and TOEFL - Students considering a foundation or language-school route ## Process steps 1. **1****Requirement check** We list the official language requirement and accepted tests for your target programmes. 2. **2****Level check** A mock test measures your current level. 3. **3****Study plan** We plan time and resources based on the target score. 4. **4****Test date** We pick a test date that fits your application and visa calendar. 5. **5****Alternatives** If needed we assess foundation programmes, language schools or conditional offers. ## Documents usually required - Passport or ID (for test registration) - Previous language results (if any) - Language requirement list of target programmes ## Typical timeline
**6–9 months before**
Level check and study plan.
**3–6 months before**

**Before applying**
Making sure the result arrives in time for application and visa dates.
## Common mistakes - Forgetting the validity period of the result - Taking a test the programme does not accept - Scheduling the test too close to the deadline ## **Frequently asked questions** Minimum scores and accepted tests vary by university; verify them on the official page. ## **Let us plan the right path for your goals** In a free initial consultation we review your profile, budget and goals, and narrow down the countries and universities that fit you.
